Invitation to participate in a short study about women living with locally-advanced/metastatic breast cancer

We recently received this email and following letter, and after consideration have decided to pass it on:

Dear Community Cancer Centre,

We are sending you this ‘Welcome Letter’ on behalf of Justin Stebbing, Professor of Cancer Medicine and Oncology, and Consultant Oncologist, Imperial College and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, London, UK, about a new study designed to identify the unmet needs of women in Europe with locally-advanced or metastatic breast cancer.  It is only by learning about the experiences of women with breast cancer that we can help improve the future management of the disease.

We would be most grateful if you could distribute this email, with the Welcome Letter, among members of your organisation whom you think would be interested in participating in the short study, and if possible post details of this study on your website.

The link to the online study can be found below and at the end of this email:

The Unmet Needs of Women in Europe with Locally-Advanced or Metastatic Breast Cancer

ABOUT THIS STUDY

Thank you for your interest in this short study about women living with locally-advanced or metastatic breast cancer.

The study, designed with the support of European patient groups, is supported by Eisai Europe Limited, and hopes to make a major contribution by highlighting the unmet needs of women in Europe living with advanced breast cancer.

Your shared experiences and knowledge CAN HELP IMPROVE THE SITUATION OF OTHER SIMILAR WOMEN IN THE FUTURE. Internet-based studies of this type are RELATIVELY NEW, and we hope that you will take part, even if you think your experiences are not unique. To us, each and every survey response is important, and it is only by learning about the experiences of women with locally-advanced or metastatic breast cancer that we can help improve the future management of the disease.

ABOUT THE QUESTIONNAIRE

The questionnaire starts with some simple but anonymous background questions about you. The main part of the questionnaire has 12 questions. Please feel free to add comments in the places indicated if wished. The questionnaire should take 10-15 minutes to complete, although some people might need longer if they wish to make several comments.

All replies to the study will be ANONYMOUS.

The survey will close on Monday, January 30th 2012.

Thank you again.

Yours sincerely,

Justin Stebbing,

Professor of Cancer Medicine and Oncology, and Consultant Oncologist,

Imperial College and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust,

London, UK

This study does sound good and we can surely help you in identifying the unmet needs of women with breast cancer.  Whilst you highlight those with advanced and metastic cancers - we can assure you that there are many areas and facets on the journey that are unmet.  Could you send your research protocol directly to the office please for us to view in depth.  Many thanks Marjorie
